Marathon Training Week 2: The best laid plans…

I am behind in posting, but suffice it to say Week 2 did not goes as planned. Work and life got in the way of the very ambitious training and cross-training plan I had so carefully designed. I also struggled with some general apathy and depression. Everything seemed to take twice as much effort has it normally would. I made it to my first 5:00 a.m. 6 mile run, which was a huge accomplishment for me, but the remainder of the week went to hell. I tried to run that Thursday evening with a running group, but I was under-hydrated and not prepared for the heat. I had to cut my run short to keep from vomiting in front of people I barely knew. I know I should be more focused on the dangers of dehydration, but my vanity usually wins out, and I was more concerned with what everyone would think. I ran the following Saturday morning, and it went fine. However, it was storming the next morning on the day of our long run, and I never made up the 10 miles. I just skipped it. So, not a stellar start. We are only entitled to our off days and weeks and this was definitely mine.

Next week is new week.
